The Mk4 incarnation of the Seat Ibiza, launched in 2002 - has proved to be a huge success for Seat. The Seat Ibiza's combination of stylish looks, sporty drive, high specification and outstanding value for money has seen sales soar, and won Seat the prestigious What Car? 2003 Car of the Year award, and Best Supermini award an unprecented 3 years in a row.

In 2006 the Seat Ibiza range was given a fresh facelift to bring it bang up to date, with the addition of some new specification levels.

Seat Ibiza Range - Petrol Models

Petrol-engined Seat Ibizas range from the entry level 64ps, 3-cylinder Seat Ibiza 1.2 , through the 75ps, Seat Ibiza 1.4 16v (also available with an automatic gearbox) and the 150ps Seat Ibiza FR 1.8 20vt models, up to the range-topping 180ps Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8 20vt. All are proven units used across the VAG group - the 1.8 20vt engine also powers the Audi TT, Seat Leon Cupra, VW Golf GTI, and Skoda Octavia VRS.

The 20vt engines not only provide outstanding performance, but offer excellent further tuning potential for the enthusiastic owner.
There are numerous reputable companies offering ECU performance upgrades - check out the useful links page and owner's club forums for more information.

Seat Ibiza Range - TDI PD Models

The Ibiza range also benefits from the VAG PD (Pump Deuse) TDI diesel engines - ranging from the 75ps Seat Ibiza TDI PD 1.4, through the 100ps Seat Ibiza TDI PD 1.9 and 130ps Seat Ibiza FR TDI PD 1.9 models, right up to the class-leading 160ps Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI PD 1.9I fitted to the Ibiza Cupra. As with the petrol units, these are used across the whole VAG range (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda), offering class-leading power and torque outputs coupled with amazing economy.

Gone are the days when diesel engines were second-rate cousins to petrol models - the Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI engine packs 160ps power and a huge 330NM torque, powering the 6-speed Seat Ibiza Cupra from 0-60mph in just over 7 seconds and onto a top speed of 136mph, whilst still being capable of an official 52.3mpg combined. The best of both worlds !

Like their petrol counterparts, the TDIs all offer excellent further tuning potential.
